Theme compatibility and troubleshooting

Which Shopify themes Breakly works with, how quick order list themes behave, and how to fix a missing widget, wrong position, unchanged price or discount.

Theme compatibility#

Breakly works with Online Store 2.0 themes. The widget uses your theme's font and, unless you pick an accent, your theme's button color and corners.

  • The Quantity breaks app block needs a theme section that accepts app blocks, as Online Store 2.0 themes do.
  • Auto placement is an app embed. You turn it on under app embeds in the theme editor.
  • The widget needs your theme's add to cart form with an add to cart button. It ignores forms in the cart drawer and the header.

If the widget looks wrong on your theme, contact support from the Help page in the app.

Themes with a quick order list#

Some themes, such as Trade, show B2B products with a quick order list instead of an add to cart button. The widget needs an add to cart button, so it doesn't show there. Checkout still applies your tiers to the quantities in the cart.

If you want shoppers to see the tiers, add the Quantity breaks block to a product template that has an add to cart button.

Troubleshooting#

The widget doesn't show#

  1. Check the theme. On Home, the Show the widget on product pages step should be done. If it isn't, select Turn on in theme or Add as block, then select Save in the theme editor.
  2. Check that you changed the published theme. If you switched themes, turn on the widget again in the new one.
  3. Check the offer. On the Offers page, its status should be Active or Active until a date, not Paused, Starts or Ended.
  4. Check the product. It must be in the offer's products or collections, or covered by a store-wide offer that doesn't exclude it.
  5. Check the country. If the offer uses Only for shoppers in some countries, shoppers in other countries don't see it.
  6. Wait a few minutes and reload. Shopify serves recently viewed pages from its cache.
  7. Check the add to cart button. Auto placement needs one on the page. On quick order list themes, see Themes with a quick order list.

The widget is in the wrong position#

  • With auto placement, open the theme editor, go to app embeds, and change Position to Above the add to cart button or Below the price.
  • Below the price falls back to above the add to cart button when Breakly can't find your theme's price.
  • For full control, add the Quantity breaks block and drag it where you want it. Auto placement then stays out of that page.

The theme's price doesn't change#

  • Update the theme's price in Design is Don't change it by default. Pick Price per item of the chosen tier or Total of the chosen tier.
  • Breakly looks for the price in the product's section. If your theme uses other markup, a developer can add data-breakly-price to the price element. See Theme hooks.
  • Prices outside the product section, such as sticky add to cart bars, don't change.

The discount isn't applied at checkout#

  1. Open Home. If it shows Discount missing or paused, select Recreate discount or Turn discount on.
  2. Check that the cart reaches a tier with a discount. With Per variant (each size or color on its own), each variant counts on its own.
  3. Check the exclusions. With Exclude subscriptions or Exclude B2B customers on, those items or buyers keep the regular price.
  4. Check the schedule and countries of the offer.
  5. Check other discounts on the same items. Shopify applies only the better product discount on each item, so a product discount code or another app's discount can replace Breakly's.
  6. Open Price check and compare its prices with your cart. Prices there don't include taxes, shipping or other discounts.

Note: Gift cards are never discounted.

Breakly and other discount apps or codes#

Breakly's discount combines with product discounts and shipping discounts. It also combines with order discounts when Shopify allows that combination for your store.

  • For a product discount code, also turn on combining with product discounts in the code's own settings.
  • On each item, Shopify applies only the better product discount for the customer. A product code, another app's product discount and a Breakly tier don't add up on the same item.
  • If Home lists "The Breakly discount doesn't combine with product discount codes", select Combine with product codes.
  • If Home lists "The Breakly discount doesn't combine with order discount codes", Shopify didn't allow that combination when Breakly created the discount.

No discounted orders in the last 30 days#

If your store had orders but none got a Breakly discount, and your first offer is more than a week old, Home shows No discounted orders in the last 30 days with the likely causes. Fix the causes it lists. If it finds none, open a product with an offer in your store, compare it with Price check, then place a test order.
